 YOUR BALTIC AMBER SPECIALIST

From time to time, we get these questions from our valued customers as well as others who want to know about amazing Baltic Amber. Here are a few of them!

 What is Baltic Amber

Baltic amber is a fossil resin of ancient trees, produced under natural conditions over 45 million years ago.In the course of time the resin was transformed to amber due to processes of polymerization and oxidation. Since this process is ongoing, amber keeps changing so we can assume that it is a “living” stone, friendly to humans.

Baltic amber what is it used for

Amber has been used since antiquity in the manufacture of jewelry and ornaments, as an ingredient in perfumes and has long been used in folk medicine for its healing properties. Amber and extracts were used from the time of Hippocrates in ancient Greece for a wide variety of treatments through the Middle Ages and up until the early twentieth century.

What is a Baltic amber teething necklace?

A Baltic amber teething necklace is a small necklace of Baltic amber beads designed to be worn by children when they are teething. They are worn around the child’s neck or as a bracelet and cannot be chewed on. Not suitable for children under 36 month. Learn more about amber teething necklaces.

Can amber teething necklaces be worn during sleep?

Amber teething necklace should be removed when child is sleeping or unattended! Please supervise your child at all times while wearing the necklace.

How safe are they?

The string in each of our amber necklaces is knotted by hand in between each and every bead, so should the necklace break (which it should if necessary), the rest of the beads will not scatter. The teething necklace fastens with a screw clasp that opens and closes easily. Amber teething necklaces and bracelets are made to wear but not to chew! Teething jewelry should be removed when child is sleeping or unattended!

Is there any difference between the colors?

From a therapeutic perspective, there is no difference between the light amber and the dark. From a fashion perspective, the darker colors are popular for boys while the trends for girls tend towards the lighter tones.

Are they comfortable to wear?

Baltic Amber is lightweight, warm and comfortable to wear, quickly assuming your own body temperature. It is a beautiful adornment and makes a lovely, thoughtful gift.

Why the prices are so different?

Some amber beads are more highly polished/rounded requires more time to make. Some Baltic amber beads are more rare than others. Prices reflect our working time not healing qualities of the amber necklaces.

And after teething?

We recommend the amber teething necklace be worn even after teething is finished as the many other benefits of ambers therapeutic properties will continue. Amber has immune boosting properties and helps with many other ailments including eczema, growing pains and even arthritis.

So what is the magic in Baltic amber?

Baltic amber contains 3-8% of succinic acid, a scientifically examined medical substance used in contemporary medicine. The highest content of the acid is found in the amber cortex--the external layer of the stone.

What Studies on Amber and Succinic Acid are there?

Recent scientific research has also proved that succinic acid has a very positive influence on the human organism. It strengthens the body, improves immunity, the course of energy-related processes and the balance of acids. Succinic acid was analyzed by the pioneer of modern bacteriology, the Nobel Prize winner, Robert Kock (1886), who confirmed its positive influence and discovered that there is no risk of the accumulation of surplus amounts of succinic acid in the human organism, even after the introduction of considerable amounts into the body.

Will water damage the amber necklace?

We recommend you avoid extended contact with water. With prolonged exposure the thread may become brittle.

How to care for your amber healing jewelry

Baltic amber is very fragile – soft it can break very easily, it’s important to be careful that it not comes in contact with chemicals. Your amber should not be stored with other jewelry where it can rub against other pieces, especially metals.  Be sure to keep perfume, hairspray, and soaps like shampoo and conditioner away from your amber, and never place your jewelry in commercial cleaning solutions.  Remove your amber healing jewelry when bathing. Also remove when applying sunscreen.
